Cartoon peeps who love cheese

October 25th, 2009 at 06:52pm Under Travel and Leisure

Now that you’ve had one of your family days out this year at the recent cheese festival in Cardiff, what famous cartoon characters would you expect to see there if of course they were real people?

Wallace from the popular Wallace and Gromit

Everybody knows this British guy. This toon inventor has big ears to match his huge love for cheese. His personal cheese of choice, well it has to be Wensleydale.Of course the first time we laid eyes on the pair was way back in 1989 in the film A Grand Day Out in which the pair actually travel to the moon as they realise they have run out of the best food ever- cheese. Gromit, being the smarter of the two would have found it easier to go to the shops but of course he cannot talk being a dog (yet he is very good at being sarcastic).

The brilliant laughing cow

Simply here because it has become a world wide sensation and is actually the oldest on the list as the original drawing for the product was drawn by the creator of the product in 1924 and was the first cheese product to actually be branded in France.

Jerry the mouse

This one is even more famous than the last and the love for cheese comes quite simply because all cartoon mice love cheese. Surely everyone knows what this one is about. The hatred that a cat and mouse have for eachother is shown with the never ending battle Tom and Jerry have. Back in the days these cartoons used to contain comic violence but with the way the world is now have since been toned down by quite a lot in recent years.

So if you fancy yourself a bit of cheese why not go to a cheese festival and try a variety of cheeses. UK family holidays can really be worked around all kinds of festivals from cheese to music.

The best Theme Park in Britain

October 25th, 2009 at 06:52pm Under Travel and Leisure

Well there isn’t really many choice in the matter as you either live to far away from your favourite or just think going to the likes of Disney World is a far better way to spend the cash. So what are the choices we have here in the UK?

Alton Towers

The biggest one is easily going to be The great Alton Towers and  houses the rides like Nemesis, Ripsaw, Rita and the kids favourite Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. This is likely to be the best one but it is also going to be the busiest one.

Thorpe Park

This park is not water park as it as some seriously fast coasters inside its walls. SAW, the ride based on the movies is also held here.

Chessington and Legoland are the two that focus on the kids. Chessington is a Zoo as well as a theme park and Legoland not only houses rides but a land where you can look at some of the best Lego ever built including a Kennedy Space Centre Launch made entirely of the Lego bricks. Drayton Manor also exists and this is a lot like Chessington apart from it might contain a few rides everyone can enjoy.

What happens if you are just not that into theme parks? Simple, why not go up to a nice countryside cottage and stay up there for a few weeks on one of those nice family holidays UK. Wales is a lovely spot to go to where you can experience Britain for its true wonder and beauty. Of course you could just go up to Cardiff Castle on family days out. Either way, Wales should certainly be on your list of must places to go when you head out on a short break to Britain.

Why are Christmas holidays booked earlier than your average holiday?

October 20th, 2009 at 09:23pm Under Travel and Leisure

If you were to be able to delve into the bookings of Christmas holidays abroad, you will see that the Christmas holiday on the whole, is booked further in advance than the normal holiday in the year. The great thing about Summer holidays, is that last minute bookings can be quite fun.

This however is not all that successful with Christmas holidays. You can’t just decide a few days before Christmas that you want to go on holiday, these things need to be planned! Going abroad requires some planning anyway, but taking the family means that you have to take every-one’s needs into account. What are you going to do with the presents; will the house be safe and what about meeting up with the rest of the external family?

These issues are the main reasons why booking a holiday last minute for Christmas won’t work. Booking a summer holiday is so much easier last minute. All you need to make sure is the house is locked up and you have some time off work, then you’re on your way. The price of luxury holidays has plummeted, so booking the holidays before hand had now become a viable option.

Finding a holiday that has spare seats on a flight available around Christmas, can be quite challenging. Booking a last minute holiday around Christmas could be very difficult, in fact a lot of places will be sold out already, although some are definitely trying to gain some extra flights and seats for families to purchase some holidays. Finding a seat on a flight, for your Christmas holiday is very difficult, that is one reason why last minute holidays aren’t always appropriate!

Luxury holidays and Winter holidays are the best way to spend your Christmas?
